In Indonesia, this tradition is known as jamu. Its name origin can be traced to the ancient Javanese word jampi (prayers) and usada (healing remedies). It was a ritual of care traditionally prepared by palace healers in the royal courts for the nobility, with every blend accompanied by prayers for health, strength, and wellbeing. From its very beginning, jamu has embodied the belief that true healing nurtures both the body and the spirit.
Jamu was never simply a remedy. It was an act of intention, care, and reverence, a philosophy that continues to inspire the way we choose to live today: with greater consciousness, deeper connection to nature, and mindful presence to our community.
